CINCINNATI -- If you're living in Hamilton County, the amount you pay the county in property taxes will drop this year.
County Commissioner Pat Dewine said Friday that taxpayers will see an average reduction of 17 percent from 2005 in the county portion of their property tax bills now being delivered to homeowners.
"For far too long, Hamilton County residents have labored under the weight of overbearing property taxes," said DeWine in a news release. "The reduction in the county portion of the most recent property tax bills is proof positive that our economic reforms are working."

Dewine said the reduction is due to decreases in the Health and Hospitalization and Children's Services levies that were evaluated by the Tax Levy Review Committee and passed in November.
Administrators estimates that the total savings to residents will be $102 million, as adjusted for inflation, over the five-year term of the levies.
In 2005, a county homeowner with a $100,000 home would have paid $413.43 to fund county government, but today, that taxpayer will pay $353.88, Dewine said.

Happy New Year Indeed!
